Arcanist

The Arcanist is a battle mage who supercharges guns with elements and bends time. Empower adds damage and makes every shot trigger its element, Blink teleports toward the cursor, and Time Warp speeds up the whole squad and their ability cooldowns.

Abilities

Press 1, 2 and 3 in a mission. Abilities never deal damage themselves: they boost you and your squad, and damage comes from guns, grenades and turrets.

1 · Empower10s cooldown

For 6s your shots deal 40% more damage and always trigger their element (fire if your gun has none).

2 · Blink8s cooldown

Teleport toward the cursor.

3 · Time Warp18s cooldown

You and nearby allies move 25% faster and recharge abilities 2.5x faster for 5s.

Only Arcanists can learn this skill, with the same skill points as every other skill.

How to play the Arcanist

Every enemy is weak to one element and resists another (see the elements guide). Empower makes every shot apply your gun’s element, so match your gun to the enemies of the map.

Blink is your escape and your repositioning tool: teleport out of a surrounded spot, across a gap, or behind a shieldbearer’s shield.

Time Warp makes allies nearby faster and recharges their abilities two and a half times as fast. Cast it when your squad’s big abilities are cooling down.

Tips

Elemental guns shine on the Arcanist: the Cryo Projector, Dragon’s Breath, the Tesla Rifle and the Storm Caster. A gun without an element gets fire from Empower.
Overcharge, the Arcanist’s class skill, adds Empower damage with every rank.
The Elemental Core upgrade raises a gun’s chance to trigger its element outside Empower.
Focus (cooldown reduction) means more Empower uptime.
